Staying in Step
Ministries
"Whoever lives in him must walk as Jesus
did." 1 John 2:6 NIV
In my B.C. life (that is life Before Children) I taught
instrumental music. Actually, I was a Band Director. Many hot summer days were spent marching up and down the football field honing skills for the greatly anticipated
marching season. Scanning the field of eager marchers on our first day of band
camp, I quickly distinguished the varying levels of their marching abilities. Some
kids naturally stayed in step. For these teens, feeling the musical beat and
aligning their body movements to its steady rhythmic pattern took little effort. It
was as natural as breathing. For others, the rhythmically challenged shall we
say, they had to consciously focus all of their energies just to stay in step. For
these kids, staying in step was a discipline that took daily effort and practice.
I believe staying in step with Christ
offers many of the same challenges. 1 John 2:6 reads, “Whoever claims to
live in him must walk as Jesus did.” Walking with Jesus means staying in
step…living as Jesus lived. For some, this is easy. Prayer comes as naturally as breathing and Bible study, well, it is simply a joy. And then there are the rest of us (and yes, I do consider myself in this latter category). We are
the rhythmically challenged, the out of step disciples that do more tripping than walking.
For us, staying in step is a conscious decision that takes daily discipline.
Although our hearts are eager, our follow through lacks the ease and grace that comes so easily to others. We need to work at it.
That, my friends, is the essence of Staying
in Step Ministries. It is equipping women in their daily walk, coaching,
encouraging, whatever it takes to help you stay in step and live a life in sync with Christ.
And what a journey it is. As you learn to daily walk with Jesus, you begin
to grasp the true meaning of peace and joy. Your load becomes lighter because
now your burden is shared with Him.
It is my prayer that Staying in Step
Ministries will lighten your step, lift your spirit, and deepen your walk with Christ.
Remember, “Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.”
And in order to walk with Jesus, you need to stay in step with Him.
